The YKI (National Certificate of Language Proficiency) test in Finnish is an official language proficiency exam required for various legal and professional purposes in Finland. Successfully passing the intermediate level YKI test is a mandatory requirement when applying for Finnish citizenship. It is also commonly needed when applying for a working permit in Finland, a student visa for Finland, or when seeking a scholarship or free education in Finnish institutions, including ammattikoulu (vocational school). This standardized test ensures that applicants have the necessary language skills to integrate into Finnish society, study, and work effectively. Only this test is valid for any migration purposes in Finland. Language certificates including ours are not to be accepted, according to Ulkomaalaislaki 301/2004, Yliopistolaki 558/2009, Kansalaisuuslaki 359/2003(2025).
